  • Must have a sound understanding of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and systems in place to insure food safety.
  • Must attend New-Hire training and annual Refresher Training to stay updated with local, federal, regulatory, industry, internal food safety standards, requirements and changes.

  • Plan and lead daily activities of the maintenance department in the areas of safety, quality, and maintenance. This requires both a focus on leadership as well as the full utilization of information, procedures and methods to positively impact the materials, machines, and the internal and external customers of the facility.


  • Supervise maintenance employees in the everyday coordination, execution and planning of the maintenance efforts.


  • Maintain a positive relationship with the plant management, salary, and hourly employees.


  • Lead, development & implement of an effective preventative maintenance program proactively addressing equipment issues.


  • Plan and monitor the timely completion of maintenance work orders.


  • Actively pursue measures to reduce downtime on plant equipment, identify opportunities and take measures to reduce waste.


  • Train, develop, and evaluate the maintenance mechanic team - includes performance appraisals, personal development plans and disciplinary actions.


  • Develop an effective inventory system of parts and tooling.


  • Resolve problems through effective communication.


  • Communicate, interact and follow-up with salary and hourly staff to build and maintain positive employee relations.


  • Ensure that employees maintain good housekeeping conditions and comply with safety and sanitation rules and regulations.


  • 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.


  • Proven knowledge in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, working with PLC's, AC/DC motors and controllers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.


  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods a must.


  • Demonstrated project management, planning and organizational skills.


  • Ability to identify root causes of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.


  • Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, communications skills.


  • Must have experience with computerized maintenance systems.


  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, blueprints, and work orders.



  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Fork truck operators' certificate when applicable.
  • Steel-toed shoes.
  • Functional Requirements/Strength and Agility testing with lower back assessment, (LBA)
  • Vision corrected to discern fine details and ability to distinguish subtle color variations (matching color to standard)
  • Standing and walking on concrete floors
