Position Summary

The Business Unit Controller is responsible to lead the business and accounting function for multiple manufacturing sites within the business unit level.  Key contributions of the role include the preparation, consolidation and/or execution of the manufacturing site's financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and various special analyses.  Responsibilities include maintaining internal controls and safeguards, with GAAP and other regulatory standards compliance, for receipt of revenue, costs, budgets and actual expenditures.

  • Responsible for consistent application of accounting policies/procedures of the company.
  • Coordinate business unit audit activity.
  • Consolidate and analyze financial statements in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of financial status.
  • Support the VP, Finance in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery. Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Assist in setting and managing working capital targets
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly supplemental detail in support of monthly financial reports.
  • Preparing schedules as required for the company's annual financial statement audit.
  • Assist in Prepare and review selected general ledger accounts as assigned by the Accounting Team.
  • Assisting the Accounting Team in other areas as may be necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the accounting department.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in either Accounting or Finance from a four-year university.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Financial Management.
  • CPA certification and/or MBA preferred.
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
  • Experience in managing multiple plants preferred.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, and Outlook email and calendar capabilities.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs, and develop solutions and/or options.
