General Position Description:

The Extrusion Supervisor's role is to maintain safety, quality and production in the department while ensuring all company policies are being followed properly.

Primary Duties:

  • Oversee the shift's production in the extrusion department.
  • Coordinate and schedule jobs according to our customers' requirements.
  • Monitor training procedures to achieve more productivity and less waste throughout the department.
  • Monitor production activity and data to develop solutions or recommendations to continuously improve processes in support of operational goals and objectives.
  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance needs for the equipment.
  • Monitor process improvement plans such as LEAN and 5's.
  • Responsible for hiring and training of new employees.
  • Work directly with the Extrusion Leads to help develop their leadership and effective skills.
  • Enforce all safety and company policies.
  • Perform department walk-throughs to ensure department is running properly.
  • Validate all paperwork is filled out properly and accurately.
  • Validate all quality checks are being performed properly.
  • Maintain staffing for the department shift and arrange coverage when needed.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures, and all Trinity Packaging-Rocky Mount Division policies and procedures, as included in the employee handbook to ensure safety for self and fellow employees and to ensure behavior is appropriate in the workplace.
  • Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments and ultimately customers receive correct information and/or product.
  • Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
  • Work effectively with neighboring plant departments in a team environment to develop multi-functional solutions.
  • Maintain good house-keeping practices throughout the areas.
  • May be assigned other duties plant wide as time allows.


The Extrusion Supervisor works directly under the Extrusion Supervisor and is accountable to perform duties in a timely and effective manner. Failure to perform duties appropriately may result in production down time and potential frustration to production departments. This in turn may affect the timeliness of delivering the end product to the customers.

The Extrusion Supervisor's achievements will be evaluated according to the following:

Safety: Maintain a focus on safety as it relates to personnel and processes.

Cost Control: Identify cost reduction opportunities, minimize waste and safeguard company assets.

Communication and Teamwork: Clearly articulate needs, ideas, issues in a constructive manner, solve problems, and contribute in a team environment. Assist other team members in completing work.

Customer Focus: Maintain a focus on addressing external and internal customer needs and requirements in all activities.

Personal Initiative: Demonstrate willingness to be involved in company activities internal and external to their own department. Conduct duties in a self-motivated and proactive manner. Initiate continuous improvement and problem solving efforts.

Problem Resolution: Apply ideas, concepts, knowledge and resources, to develop solutions and approaches to internal and external customer issues and problems in an effective and timely manner.

Productivity and Quality: Execute all duties in the appropriate amount (volume), time, level of detail, and degree of accuracy, to meet internal and external customer requirements and needs.

Relationships: Act in a professional manner, exercising pleasant and courteous mannerisms, treating others with dignity and respect, and focusing on conflict minimization and collaborative solutions. Recognize internal co-workers as customers.


  • Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate and coordinate effectively with internal personnel.
