Position Summary

This position will be responsible for analyzing & comparing current costs to provide price guidance on new or existing business opportunities.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Responsible for creating manufacturing cost estimates based on input from Sales, Product Development, and historical actual production data, for new and existing business. Analyze data received to ensure it is consistent and appropriate for the particular cost request. 
  • Responsible for calculating product cost and pricing levels that meet agreed-upon margin guidelines and/or pricing strategy within the specific market. Use decision making skills to confirm suitable margin is being recommended for the cost request.
  • Responsible for obtaining critical cost estimate assumptions from Manufacturing, Sourcing, Product Development, and other departments to determine cost assumptions to allow timely completion of the cost request.
  • Responsible for re-costing when made aware of a raw material and/or product structure change. This includes notification from the Sales Account Manager and/or Product Development as the product may change throughout the trial to commercialization process.  This also includes analyzing the changes to determine the impact to the overall product cost.  Notify the Sales Account Manager of the results of the updated cost work.
  • Responsible for completing cost estimates and/or validating cost estimates completed by other team members for RFQs/bids. Use decision making skills to ensure correct assumptions are being used for the particular project. This may also include creating calculations, maintaining/updating a working copy of the bid spreadsheet, and other tasks as designated by Manager.
  • Responsible for analyzing current costs and pricing by using decision making skills to evaluate cost assumptions used as compared to actual available data. Provide the information in a workable Excel document or as requested.
  • Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with coworkers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Knows and follows all safety policies and procedures. Ensures that co-workers are also following safety rules.
  • Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Emphasis on Analysis/Calculations:

  • Responsible for cost and price analysis projects which may include re-costing and analysis of existing pricing, work order cost breakdown, as well as comparison of actual production vs cost model assumptions. Use decision making skills to determine best method of providing the analysis.
  • Responsible for maintaining, modifying, creating, developing and testing new ProAmpac cost models. This includes making improvements in the cost models to reflect updated production parameters, raw material manufacturing process impacts, and when ProAmpac acquires new equipment, produces products using new equipment configurations, or acquires a new company.  Write Excel formulas to accurately calculate costs by using decision making skills to determine the most efficient calculation as well as the best way to test cost model improvements for accuracy and consistency.
  • Responsible for the creation and validation of Escalator/De-Escalators (aka openers, price management tools) as business needs dictate. Work with Estimating Manager as needed to ensure accuracy and timely completion. 
  • Recommends updates all department forms and SOPs as necessary.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program or five (5) years related experience and/or training in pricing or accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, margins, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have high level knowledge of Microsoft Office internet software ERP system and advanced knowledge level in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software including formulas, pivot tables, and macros.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.

Work Environment

Work primarily in a climate controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes and vision protection required. 

This role operates in a professional office environment that requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing area during extremely hot summer months.
