Position Summary

The Quality Systems Manager will work with the sales and marketing team to develop competitive flexible packaging solutions, and will establish specifications and SOPs to facilitate the production teams' ability to manage product trials, the quality of the production and assure consistent production processes.

  • Develop and implement Quality Management Systems, i.e. ISO, GMP, SQF
  •  SQF Practitioner
  •  Set standards for department, develop specifications for all aspects of quality management
  • Direct special projects focused on evaluating new products, processes or systems and their compatibility with organization's technologies
  • Recommend for implementation products that correct problems, improve or enhance current operations
  • Establish SOPs for all quality processes and procedures to maintain consistency, accuracy and controlled results.
  • Responsible for all food safety.
  • Knowledge of industry good manufacturing practices and standards, quality management systems and compliance to FDA requirements.
  • A solid knowledge of polymers and thermoplastic films properties and a good understanding of the production processes used by the converting industry - printing, coating, lamination, metallization, slitting and bag making.
  • Experience in markets such as fresh produce, pet food, lawn and garden packaging industries desirable
  • Staff, manage and allocate competent and knowledgeable QA Technician personnel to support the Buffalo production operation 

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering from a four-year college
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance experience
  • Prior audit experience and knowledge of ISO 9001, GMP, SQF preferred
  • Strong data management skills preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, and Outlook email and calendar capabilities. Very high level of proficiency in Excel required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with staff, and internal and external clients.
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs, and develop solutions and/or options.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
