General Position Description:

The Lead Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for corresponding with carriers, reviewing, creating picking lists and shipping orders to customers on a daily basis. Responsible for keeping reports current and up to date and also for working with other Proampac plants and offices in a professional manner. Responsible for giving instruction/direction to the warehouse & office staff at the direction of the Director of Transportation and Traffic Supervisor.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for daily direction of dedicated drivers, per direction of Managerment.
  • Responsible for daily shipments to outside carriers, per direction of Managerment.
  • Reviews orders, creats picklist and coordinate orders for shipping.
  • Responsible for working with the Repro Supervisor on Repro/Scrap loads.
  • Responsible for lining up returns with customers. Also tracks and logs on IConnect unitl returned to Trinity Packaging.
  • Responsible for working with appropriate individuals in Buffalo, NY and Hartford, WI plants on film needs.
  • Assists Director of Transportation with Scotts using the TMS system.
  • Responsible for maintaining Discrepancy Report and e-mailing
  • Covers for Traffic Supervisor when out
  • Responsible for working with NY Sales Representatives on orders.
  • Trains co-workers on new tasks.
  • Responsible for keeping files up to date and organized.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Database, Powerpoint and Outlook.)
  • Participate in physical inventories.
  • Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
  • Develop professional processes expertise to provide improved assistance to customers.
  • Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments and ultimately customers, receive correct information/and or product.
  • Perform any special duties assigned by management.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures, as incuded in the employee handbook to ensure safety for self and fellow employees and to ensure behavior is appropriate in the workplace.
  • Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are met.
  • Work with neighboring plant departments in a team environment to develop multi-fuctional solutions.
  • Maintain good house-keeping practices throughout the areas.
  • May be assigned other duties plant wide as time allows.


The Lead Shipping & Receiving Clerk works under the Traffic Supervisor, and is accountable to perform duties in a timely and effective manner. Failure to perform duties appropriately may result in inaccurate inventory and monitoring of use of materials needed for production. Errors may cause down time in production and potential frustration to production departments. This in turn may affect the timeliness of delivering the end product to the customers.

The Lead Shipping & Receiving Clerk achievements will be evaluated according to the following:

Cost Control: Identify cost reduction opportunities, minimize waste and safeguard company assets.

Acquire complete knowledge of inventory systems and monitor daily applications of such. Conduct duties in a self-motivated and proactive manner. Initiate continuous improvement and problem solving efforts.

Problem Resolution: Apply ideas, concepts, knowledge and resources, to develop solutions and approaches to internal and external customer issues and problems in an effective and timely manner.

Productivity and Quality: Execute all duties in the appropriate amount (volume), time, level of detail and degree of accuracy, to meet internal and external customer requirements and needs.

Relationships: Act in a professional manner, exercising pleasant and courteous mannerisms, treating others with dignity and respect.


  • Good math skills and working knowledge of 10 key calculator.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate and coordinate effectively with internal personnel and external carriers.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers or fellow employees.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Work in a manufacturing plant utilizing computers, dollies, hand tools, safety knives and packaging equipment while using required PPE
  • Utilize resource materials including SAP floor system, and standardized forms/paperwork.
  • Vision capabilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
