Description: Responsible for plant compliance to 3rd party certification schemes (i.e. BRC, SQF, ISO, SFI) and customer driven programs. Establish, monitor and maintain the quality control and food safety systems.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Lead the Product Safety Team and coordinate activities required for food safety compliance
  • Facilitate process documentation, quality and food safety management systems improvement
  • Lead continuous improvement teams with a focus on key plant performance metrics
  • Coordinate root cause investigation teams focused on the key quality and food safety defects
  • Ensure that products and services meet customer
  • Develop the technical skills of each QC staff member by providing opportunities for on the job training and personal development
  • Direct various inspection and test procedures, and establish and maintain records necessary for quality control, including charts, statistical analyses, and reports
  • Determine and recommend necessary inspection and test equipment required for all phases of production (incoming and in process inspection, sampling, vendor and final testing, and inspection of finished products) across all areas of the operation
  • Working very closely with all departments, especially Production

Job Requirements:

  • Quality Systems experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of 3rd party certification schemes preferably BRC, SQF, ISO
  • Trained internal auditor
  • Decision making ability and ability to positively influence & manage people in a Team Environment
  • Excellent communication skills with production personnel, management and customers
  • Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and ability to learn new programs (ERP)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to find and implement creative solutions to opportunities
  • Familiar with Corrective/Preventive Actions & problem solving techniques
  • 55/Lean Manufacturing
  • Process capability studies
  • Understanding of OSHA Safety Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BS Degree in Technical Discipline or equivalent certification
  • Must have three to five years' experience in manufacturing and quality management
  • Experience with implementing, developing and maintaining quality and food safety management systems

Work Conditions:

  • Some traveling involved
  • Established production plant with printing presses, bag machines, normal lighting and limited climate control
